Philadelphia Freedom
Scrapple, cheese steak, Bassetts ice cream... It was a few days of indulgence, indeed. I had scrapple for breakfast three days in a row. Yes. Scrapple. Cornmeal and pork scraps. I know. But damn it's good. I'd eat more of it right now if I was still there. Yum. But indulging in delicious eats isn't the reason I went. Even more delicious was the time I got to spend with my nearly 100 year-old great aunt Agnes, my favorite godfather of all time, my favorite cousins St. John, and my beloved aunt Pat. Throw in a surprise visit to the Mcloughlins and it was all I could have asked for in a short 3-day visit. I even got quite a bit of informative ammo from the aforementioned favorite godfather to beef up any lesson on Benjamin Franklin I may include in a future social studies or history lesson. I wish I could have sat with him all day and listened to his stories (on Ben or anything else). I wish I could have spent more time with my cousins. I wish I could join my aunt on other jaunts to towns large and small, near and far. I wish I could be in Philly for my great aunt's 100th. I wish Phoenix was closer.
Gas, $4.00+ gallon; two ice cream cones at Bassetts, $5.00; this trip to Philadelphia? Priceless.

Yo Grump!
Ya gotta try the hoagies too.
C'mon back!
I love the hoagies!!! I just never have enough time to eat everything I'd like to eat there, and definitely not enough time to spend with the folks I love there.
We wish we could have spent more time with you! Great to see you!!
Good Luck with teaching. HOPEFULLY we will make it to AZ soon ;-)
