It's not the heat...

... it's the humidity. Which you can feel in every nook and cranny the minute you step off the plane. Yuck. Never thought I'd get used to the big bright orb and heat of AZ, but I have, and now the humidity - barely tolerable at best before - is zapping my will to live. Thankfully, a beautiful thunderstorm came through earlier today and cooled everything off. Yes, more moisture, but the humidity has eased up somewhat and it's cool, breezy, and it smells very Virginia-ish outside. You know, wet-earth, warm-grass, dewy, rainy, soil-y, green. It's a completely different smell from AZ.

I spent most of the afternoon curled up with angel-nephew and angel-niece... seriously a slice of heaven. Tomorrow we see the Narnia sequel, Tuesday I go to Philly, Saturday is brother's birthday dinner, next week I get to see some friends I haven't seen in a while, then it's back to the land of the big bright orb. For now though it's time to play some scrabble. BTW - flourless chocolate waffles for dessert. Yum.
