Lift off in 12, 11, 10, 9...

In 12 short hours I will have a room full of 23 boys and girls, 2nd and 3rd graders, native English and native Spanish speakers - all excited, all nervous, all strung out on who knows what kind of sugary cereal - looking at me thinking I know what I'm doing. Holy merde.

Meet the Teacher went well, I think. My room looked good (except for the metaphorical dust bunnies under the metaphorical rugs). I was way too tired and wired to be nervous. AND I had had plenty of liquid personality (caffeine), so I was charming and funny. Ha. (Sister came and although I didn't have time to talk much with her, I knew she was there and it was very comforting and supportive. I have the best Sister in the world.)

Tomorrow, however, is another story. I'll let you all know how it goes. Although it's 8:20 something at night and I have been working since 7:30 this morning, I still need to finish planning, getting my merde together for tomorrow's activities, and just make sure that I'm good to go for tomorrow; at least in theory.

I have been working at least 12 hours every day for more than week (attending orientation, working in my room, etc.), mostly on very little sleep and one meal a day. I'm just too wired to sleep or eat much. When the crash comes, it's gonna be a good one.

See you all on the flip side...

Hey, the 'Skins beat the Colts 30-16 in the Hall of Fame (pre-season) game three days ago. What better omen for your own opening day -- and your championship first season -- can you ask for? You'll do great!
