I have a job!!!

I will be the new 2nd/3rd grade dual-language teacher for the 2008/2009 school year!! WHOO HOO! As you know - maybe - I have been student teaching in this class since January and previously interned in the same class two years ago. The K-1 dual-language teacher gave her resignation this past week and my mentor teacher hired me! My mentor teacher will teach K-1, I will be in 2-3, and the teacher who is in 4-5 will be staying in that position. The following year, 2009-2010, the dual language program will change to have single-grade classes creating even more positions and at that time I will move to a 4th or 5th grade position. In the meantime, my current 2nd graders will be my 3rd graders... and possibly my 4th graders!!

I am SO excited!! The beginning of the semester started off rocky because teaching two grades in two languages is TOUGH, but all I needed was time and experience to get acclimated and I have been enjoying it immensely. You know, I started on this journey to become more fluent in Spanish, to become involved in bilingual education, to teach in a diverse school... I got all that and more. Is it legal to be this lucky in life?

Is it legal? You'll have to ask your uncle about that.
