...and up...and down...and up
The roller coaster ride continues. I started last week on an up, and by the end of the week I was down. Wednesday I was supposed to start the new Social Studies unit with an opening activity and I totally choked. I had no idea what to do, how to do it, what to say, where to go, why was I there... Apparently I looked at Mentor Teacher with utter panic when I said "help me." She did help me, but she also had to teach the lesson. Starting tomorrow it's all up to me. I start next week teaching the class full time, all lessons, all content areas, all, everything. God help us all.
Friday was a very rough day for me, but it ended well. I took a deep breath and asked some questions I needed to ask and I got some clarification and direction and support and I feel much better. Also, Saturday was my first district screening interview and it went very very well. I have another scheduled for March 24, and am trying to get several scheduled for a job fair I may attend on March 15. It is exhausting trying to plan lessons, learn enough about the American Revolution in order to teach it to 2nd and 3rd graders, AND fill out applications, attend interviews and develop a resume. Exhausting!
I'm looking forward to Spring break in a couple of weeks. I'll be in VA for a few days to get another fill (70lbs down so far!), to spend a little time with family, and to get some relaxation in before I'm off and running again the following week.
68 days until graduation!! Slowly I'm getting those announcements out, so keep checking your mailbox!
